I have 4 days until I leave for the year and I'm currently sitting in bed surrounded by heaps of clothes and don't know where or even how to begin. I haven't found many "Packing list for one year" articles. I found one that said "two pairs of pants, one sweater, four shirts, etc." and I can't imagine packing that little. But I think I might have to if I want to be able to carry my backpack without falling over. How am I supposed to choose between my Lulu Lemon pants and my adidas capris?!?! The struggle is real.
Ok. Here we go....... 24 hours later....
Wow! I actually think I did it! Here's my one year packing list for Europe:
Clothes:
Six Shirts (2 t-shirts, one long sleeve, one "cute", one under armour, and one athletic)
Two pairs of shorts (One denim, one more comfy)
Three pairs of pants (One denim, one athletic, and one under armour)
Two dresses (One black dress, one beach dress)
One pair of "comfy clothes"/PJs
Fourteen pairs of underwear (assuming I'll to laundry every 2 weeks)
Four pairs of socks
Three bras (One push up, one bandeau, and one sports bra)
One bathing suit
One belt
One hat
One sweater
One rain-proof/breathable/light jacket
Three pairs of shoes (Water shoes (for the beach and showers), flats and running shoes)
Technology:
One GoPro
One Smartphone
One Ipad
Chargers for all
One adapter
Toiletries:
One comb (because a brush is bigger, and a comb does the same for me)
One toothbrush
One container of Lush' Toothy Tabs
One shampoo bar (also from Lush)
One bar of soap
One Diva Cup (because I'd rather not buy tampons and pads that are going to take up space)
A small sample container of BB Cream, Beauty Balm
Another small sample container of BB Cream, Anti-Redness
Mascara
Lipstick
Lip balm
Travel size moisturizer (for face, body and hands)
Sunscreen
Tweezers
Deodorant
A towel (so I don't have to buy one at every hostel)
Small sample size perfumes
Mini Tide To Go
Hair elastics and bobby pins
All my meds (Including 12 months of birth control, and over the counter meds in case I get really sick)
Misc:
My planner
Pens and highlighters
Ear plugs
Two locks (for hostel lockers and such)
Mini umbrella
Hand sanitizer
Face cloth (one that with only water takes off my makeup)
Must Haves:
Passport
ID (Drivers licence)
Health Insurance
ATM cards
Photocopies of EVERYTHING (And twice! One copy for my backpack, and one for my purse)
Plane tickets
International driving permit
Money already converted into the currency of the country I'm going to
I also bought packing cubs, which just organizes everything for me. So when I leave hostels at 5am to catch a flight I don't have to wake everyone up while rummaging through my bag to find my pants. I'm also bringing these like Ziplock bags just in case I buy more stuff I can compress it easily. I'm also bringing a bigger purse for the stuff that didn't fit in my backpack. Inside the big bag I'll put a smaller bag for day trips and stuff. Finally I'm bringing a shower curtain ring. I'm going to buy post cards everywhere I go, and I'll hole punch them and put them on the shower curtain ring and write a memory on the back, so it will be like a mini scrapbook.
Lastly before I leave I'm changing the background of my phone and Ipad to my name, my number, my address, and number of emergency contact just in case I lose something and people decide to be nice and return it, or if something more seriously happens and I only have my phone on me, people know my info.
I can't believe everything fit in my backpack and it's still pretty light! I also can't believe that I'm bringing so little for a one year trip! But I'm mostly just excited for what this year has in store, and now I feel like I can really do it! If my backpack can't bring me down nothing can!!!!!!!!! Haha
