Hello again. In case you’ve forgotten, Im Jordan. I’m travelling Europe this year and I’m supposed to be blogging about my travels, and clearly that’s going really well and I’m basically posting every day. Also, I’m alive. Don’t be too concerned about my blog title... I will get to that eventually! I’ve been in Scotland now for 3 weeks, and I’ve actually been really enjoying my time here and I’ve met quite a few wonderful people. My first week here I was in Crossford Housesitting. It was a nice town but not a major city and knowing I’d be in Edinburgh soon I basically stayed home and became BFF’s with the dogs I was looking after and saving money. The week after, my sister and Mike came down to Edinburgh and we hit up the city!!!!! Just kidding. We were in bed every night before midnight basically ;p One night the hostel we were in took us to a Ceilidh. Unfortunately I think every hostel that exists in Edinburgh took their guests to this Ceilidh and there were so many tourists and people who couldn’t count music or dance and it was honestly the most frustrating thing. Luckily the band was amazing and I honestly had a great time just watching them perform. At the end of their set they said that they’d be playing again later that week, so I went up and took all their info down as they said it’d be at a church and I assumed that there wouldn’t be as many people and it’d be really fun. The next day we decided to climb up Arthur’s Seat (this is where the title comes into play)! So basically we were climbing and I was dying because I’m reaaaaal out of shape. Like I might as well weigh 300 pounds. At one point in the hike there’s a part where you kind of go downhill a bit. Mike was leading and took us to this one trail (I’m blaming everything on him), I said “isn’t there a less dangerous looking path?” Cause I swear I saw people going down another way but he was like “NOPE” and so we went his way. Honestly, I have no idea what happened but next thing I knew I was on the ground my right heel was touching the ground and my butt. Now, I know I said tears... but I didn’t reaaaaally cry. I was close cause it hurt a lot but I pulled it together and stood up, looked down and saw quite a lot of blood. We tried washing it but it just kept bleeding. We decided to walk up to a family to ask for bandaids and they just happened to have a whole first aid kit and the guy said his dads a doctor! So they bandaged me up and we went on our way to the very top 💪🏻 We also went on a haunted tour where they bring you down to the underground vaults which are dark and crammed, and I don’t know what happened but at the very end I had to basically run out of there and I threw up. I think a ghost possessed me... that’s probably what happened. It was a really cool tour minus the vomit part 👍🏻 After Syd and Mike left I went to stay with someone in Edinburgh through Couchsurfing. He was late picking me up though from our meeting point and I almost had a heart attack thinking he just wouldn’t show up. But he eventually did and I as soon as I saw him..... I fell in love ... just kidding .. seriously, I didn’t fall in love with him but I did know that we were going to get a long, and we did! The first night we met up with some other girls who had slept at his place through Couchsurfing. They wanted to go see classic Scottish live music, but we were basically just watching a drunk, fat bald man playing Bohemian Rhapsody on the guitar. The girls eventually left and Andy (the guy I was staying with) and I went to another local pub where people were all just passing a guitar around and singing songs. It was actually pretty cool! The next day Andy was going to Glasgow for some work dinner/dance thing but I didn’t mind as that was the night of the ceilidh I had planned on going to. The Facebook page said it started at 7.30 and Google Maps said it would take me 45 min to get there, so I left at 6.45 and got there really early and the thing didn’t even start until 8 🙄 Once they finally let me in I quickly realized everyone was either over 40 or under 12, and everyone was from Edinburgh (but that was cool, I was happy to be the only tourist). Right away I started talking to this group of three, younger looking people. Eventually that turned into me talking to this one guy that was kind of helping out at the venue. He introduced me to quite a few people, and next thing I knew I was dancing with someone in a kilt and no shoes or socks! There was so much room, everyone knew what they were doing and I had such a great time. The guy that introduced me to everyone was running the bar so I was being annoying and he was my only friend so I kind of just stuck with him the whole night and ended up helping run the Bar 😂 I even talked to the band that I was gushing over and the guitarist gave me a hug cause I wouldn’t stop complimenting him! It was a really fun night and I danced basically every song. But can I just say, why Scottish people thought it would be a good idea to combine drinking heavily and spinning really fast is beyond me. But I had a really great night. The next day was Saturday so me and Andy had plans to go costume shopping and go out with some of his friends. I decided to go as Tom Cruise from Risky Business cause I figured that would be easy. Andy decided to go as a clown in a morph suit... it was pretty terrifying :p I don’t really know what his plan was, but he wanted to go to the town over claiming his friends were there, but they weren’t answering their phones and where they said to go didn’t exist when we tried to look it up. I was kind of getting mad because it was Halloween weekend and why we weren’t spending it in Edinburgh was confusing. I think Andy was getting mad that I was mad so eventually called an Uber to take us into the city centre and it was an awkward cab ride with no speaking:p We got to the place (which was actually where I went to the first Ceilidh with Syd and Mike) and I went in alone and got two shots of tequila and a beer! Andy eventually came in and we found his friends. It was about 6 guys and me 😬 But they were all really nice and we got on instantly. We ended up going to another bar where we played a drinking game of bouncing a coin off the table trying to get in into a cup filled with all of our drinks. Whoever got it in got to chose someone to drink the cup. Eventually we worked our way to a club where Andy decided it was time to go home 🙄 But I didn’t want to leave so he left and I stayed out with his friends. I don’t remember where we went but it was decked out in Halloween decorations and almost everyone was dressed up so it was awesome! We had a really fun time and I’m pretty sure I gave a random guy on the dance floor a wet willy....not sure why... but the guys bought me a drink for doing that 😂 I really enjoyed my week in Edinburgh and met some pretty great people! I think it’s a place that I absolutely have to go back to!
