Have you ever been to a place that immediately feels like home and you're surrounded by friends you've known for years, but you've actually only known each other for a couple of hours?Ā
That's what happened when I arrived in Copenhagen. I got a Couchsurf for a couple of nights and although his profile didn't have a good photo his bio was hilarious and I even said to him "we're either going to become best friends or hate each other because we'll be too similar." The second I buzzed his apartment I was like "IM HEEEREE" and gave him a huge hug and we talked as if we were catching up, not meeting each other for the first time. Ā I'm pretty sure I arrived on a Sunday night so he unfortunately had to work both days I was there so we actually didn't get to know one another too well. However, the time we were together was really fun. I fell in love with the city so instead of leaving Wednesday I stayed until Saturday, even though my host left on Wednesday (I moved to a hostel). At the hostel I wasn't too keen onĀ makingĀ any friends. I was sitting in the common area alone and people were so nice and asked if I wanted to sit with them and I was like "umm no thank you" š I went on a couple of tours and just spent my days wandering this stunning city! Even the cold and rainy weather couldn't ruin my days spent there!Ā
One day while on my way back to the hostel I stopped in this cafe to grab some food and there was this guy working there. I couldn't tell if he was just being friendly or what as he kept winking and smiling at me š But I ran away without asking cause he was very handsome! When I got back to the hostel I freaked out to Jessica being like "I need to ask him out!" So I ran back to the cafe, but it was closed! The next morning I went back, but he wasn't there. That evening I went back again and he was there! But I got too scared again and ran back to the hostel. My friends were like "wtf are you doing? Go back!" So I went back and awkwardly asked him out!! And toĀ my surprise he agreed to go out with me after his shift. Honestly, it wasn't that great of a date. He was really quiet and I realized I talk A LOT! But I was so happy that I asked him out,Ā I didn't even care!Ā
On Friday my Couchsurf host was back home and we went out and I stayed again at his for my last night. We went to a ping pong bar. It was really weird and I discovered I'm really bad at ping pong. It was embarrassing. But one of the reasons I loved Copenhagen was because I found it really easy to make friends. Everyone has a very similar sense of humour as me so I got along with everyone really well!Ā
I was told that Copenhagen is a completely different city in the summer and that anyone that sees it in the winter HAS to come back in the summer. So that's definitely on my bucket list now! I felt that I made friends to last a life time there and just really had an amazing time!Ā
I later met a girl in Thailand who I instantly became friends with who ended up being from Denmark which just reconfirmed that I love that country and need to go back very soon!Ā
